About Rise and Shine Foundation

Our Mission

We end homelessness and support long-term recovery in the Kansas City metro by providing immediate, safe housing paired with compassionate case management, peer support, and job training. We believe housing is the foundation everything else is built on — not a reward for getting well first.

Our History

Rise and Shine Foundation Inc. began as a small group of Kansas City neighbors in recovery who opened their doors to people leaving treatment with nowhere to go. What started with a single recovery residence has grown into a network of housing, case management, and workforce programs serving hundreds of people each year across Jackson County. Our staff still includes people with lived experience of homelessness and recovery — that stays at the center of how we work.

Our People

Our staff and board include people with lived experience of homelessness and recovery. These painted portraits stand in for the neighbors, participants, and case managers who make up Rise and Shine.
